Toufoula: making dreams come true

We feel powerless in the face of children suffering from cancer. Toufoula gives them the possibility to dream a little by offering a more pleasant environment in the hospital.

Toufoula is a Lebanese non-governmental organization founded in 2005 by a group of dynamic young volunteers, to help children suffering from cancer. Their mission is to transform dull hospital rooms into a cheerful environment through the Dream Room's project, trying to alleviate their suffering during the long and grueling treatment.

The dream of Toufoula was to transform the entire wing of a hospital. This dream came true at Hotel Dieu de France Beirut. Each room became a world apart, designed by the most famous names in design and fashion.

Children now have the opportunity to escape to a dream space.

The dynamism and the heat in the rooms, give hope and moral support to the young patients. The founders tried to maintain the contact between the patient and the outside world by integrating video games, large screen TVs, books, electronic games and computers in the hospital room.
Some of the eighteen rooms also offer interactive spaces where children can play and express themselves on a magnetic wall.
They can also express their current thinking on multi-colored cubes made of foam and which are part of a wall puzzle .
The layout of the rooms takes into consideration parents and friends who often visit the patients for a long period of time.

After the renovation of an entire wing in Hotel Dieu Hospital, Toufoula members aim to expand the project in all Lebanon’s hospitals . Dream Rooms have already been integrated to Makassed, Zahraa and Rafik Hariri Beirut hospitals. All this was made possible thanks to the financial support of Baz family and the creative contribution of Bernard Khoury, Galal Mahmoud, Jean Louis Mainguy, Zuhair Murad, Rabih Keyrouz, Nada Debs and other top designers.
